One of my first musical heroes. My older brother listened a lot to music by Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Supertramp, and also Mike Oldfield. Of all the music that he played Mike Oldfield made the biggest impression on me. Every second of it was an unexpected adventure! Some of my best childhood memories revolve around this music. Only many years later I came to appreciate him as a very fine guitar player. I had always known, of course, that he played very well, but I always saw him as a multi instrumentalist that also happened to play the guitar. Now I see him as a guitarist that can't keep his hands off other instruments. Anyway, his use of both acoustic and electric instruments is what I like most about his music. That and the fact that literally everything he does is 100% melodic. He has made some very poor records over the years, but also some very fine records. The listening tips all are very good indeed.
