Song

Everyone's favourite. I wrote this piece for the son of friends of mine, and playing it for them for the first time was one of the most special experiences in my life. I tried to write music that was very soothing, almost like a lullaby, but at the same time was sparkling with positive energy. I guess it worked, because as I said, this piece seems to be the favourite of almost everyone who hears some of my music. Really up to the point that when I play some new piece, people say: "Ah well, it sounds OK, but I liked that Wessel song more". Just my luck! It's not a very rigid piece: I never play it the same twice! There are a lot of passages that allow for some variation in picking patterns. Just as long as you follow the original chords you'll be fine...

Recording

Track length: [03:12].
Instruments: Da Montagne jumbo (lead).
This song is almost like a lullaby, so the arrangement was kept as simple and quiet as possible. Because the song is based very heavily on chords, the idea arose to play it twice, and let the inevetable differences in picking patterns that always occur when I play it cause some interesting stereo effects. Maybe it would have been easier to use a stereo chorus, but this was way more fun. I recorded it six times and had a very hard time deciding which two recordings combined the best.
